We are often asked, what makes Augspurger monitors sound so good? Here are a few things that set us apart from the rest of the crowd.

Our solid maple wood horns are legendary and provide a truly immersive listening experience, with a smooth response on and off axis due to the carefully engineered 70 × 110 degree listening window. This provides uncanny stereo imaging across a wide listening area whilst limiting unwanted reflections from ceiling, floor and walls.

Unlike traditional dome tweeter’s hemispherical radiation the Augspurger horn’s directivity puts more direct energy where you are and less where you aren’t!

The Augspurger horn alone is comprised of 11 separate pieces of solid maple and takes many days to produce, involving milling of raw materials, cutting of blanks, CNC and shaping machine processing, hand sanding and more. There’s nothing quite like it in professional use today.

The sound is immersive, enveloping, dynamic and richly engaging. Whether your need is far field in a large professional studio using our improved Augspurger horn design or in a more intimate setting using our own MidFocus, or 30% smaller “MF” horn, the listening experience is the same. Perfectly optimized into your environment.

Augspurger has developed a whole new range of advanced drivers that are more musical and durable, engineered for high sensitivity and power handling. When a lower mid frequency driver can output nearly 100 dB SPL with only one watt of energy applied, imagine the sense of limitlessness achieved when 800 watts are available, or even 2500 watts!

We use 99.5% pure beryllium diaphragms in our horns, which are 111 dB @ 1 W sensitivity, before you put it in the compression driver and mount it in the horn!

Indeed, these beryllium diaphragms are more expensive than aluminum or titanium, but they are also far better suited for the task at hand, as it has higher stiffness to density ratio and does not ring out (it’s quite inert!). Beryllium is naturally damped.

Our cabinets are highly engineered and produced using automated CNC, shaping and hand finishing techniques. The Minimax Series cabinet is built from Baltic Birch ply for wall and ceiling-mount installs.

Continuing development drives us to further refine our monitor systems and offer up new solutions, and custom designs are also available for those wishing for something out of the ordinary.

Every system we sell is professionally and personally calibrated acoustically to deliver signature Augspurger sound we are famous for around the world. Our master tuning curve is renowned, and we can tweak it to your needs and taste. With 100 memory presets in our amps, we can provide you more than one for different production tasks.
