Overview
CSignum provides the world’s first, and only, wireless platform that reliably transmits sensor data through water, soil, concrete, rock, and ice using patented Electromagnetic Field Signaling (EMFS). This breakthrough closes a major connectivity gap for customers that need real-time data from submerged, buried, or remote infrastructure where traditional radio, acoustic, or optical signals fail.
The EM-2 gateway works with multiple subsurface devices:
• EM-2Q for inland and coastal water quality monitoring,
• EM-2M for confined storm drains, sewers, culverts, and underground vaults,
• EM-2S for vessel hull or submerged structural health monitoring.
Each unit integrates with industry-standard sondes to collect high-frequency, multi-parameter data: flow rates, levels, pollutants, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and more. Data is wirelessly transmitted through physical obstructions to the EM-2 gateway, which can be located up to 100 meters away, then securely uploaded via LTE to the CSignum Cloud or your SCADA systems for actionable insights.
CSignum’s compact, rechargeable, battery-powered systems are designed for low maintenance and remote retrieval, with no surface buoys, cables, or trenching required, minimizing disturbance to sensitive sites and supporting easier permitting. Customers gain continuous monitoring of combined sewer overflows (CSOs), urban drainage, or remote catchments to meet regulatory requirements including EPA, the UK Environment Act 2021, and other similar real-time reporting mandates.
