Fentimans is a natural botanically brewed craft beverage with a rich history of crafting premium beverages with knowledge and experience passed down through generations of the Fentimans family.
In 1905, a fellow merchant asked Thomas Fentiman, a metalworker and ginger beer maker from Cleckheaton, England, for a loan. An agreement was reached and a recipe for Botanically Brewed Ginger Beer was provided as collateral. The loan was never repaid, so Thomas became the owner of the unique recipe, which he began using to produce Fentimans ginger beer. Thomas sold his botanically brewed ginger beer door-to-door via horse-drawn cart in ceramic jars affectionately known as GRAY HENS. The dog that proudly guards each bottle of Fentimans is Fearless, Thomas’s faithful dog. Her portrait remains our logo to this day, and she proudly guards our headquarters, Fearless House.
It has been over 100 years since Fentimans botanically brewed drinks were created
and the business is still in the Fentimans family and owned by Thomas Fentiman’s
great-grandson. Our flavors continue to be handcrafted at Fearless House (our headquarters) in Hexham England. Our one-of-a-kind, time-honored Botanical Brewing process- The indulgent and distinctive flavor experience starts with scouring the globe for the finest natural ingredients.
It’s what we do with those ingredients that make our drinks so special…
We check every single ingredient by smell, taste and feel. We reject if not to the highest possible standard. We use raw ingredients to create flavor that goes into every bottle. Our flavor creation expert adds water, ethanol and ingredients to a vat and checks the ingredients daily. Flavor extraction has taken place when our flavor expert says so.
Three secret ingredients are added and simmered to ensure flavors combine Temperature cooling and adding yeast.
Brewing begins, at which point we begin to infuse with ginger Infusing continues for a minimum of 7 days and is tasted every 12 hours. Once the yeast has finished its work, we allow the botanical base to cool and mature to gain flavor. Flavor and botanical base are infused before carbonation. Water and natural beet sugar are added before carbonation adds sparkle to the liquid.
THAT’S BOTANICAL BREWING! Pasteurization not only extends the life of our drinks; the heating process also plays a role in melding together the array of essential oils, botanical extracts and flavors. The result is a rounded, smooth and balanced taste experience. A multi-stage process from botanicals to bottle resulting in exquisite flavor in every Fentimans drink.
