KOKUSAI DENKI Electric provides advanced equipment and systems for the broadcast, production, industrial, CCTV & Surveillance and telecommunications markets. The USA subsidiary was founded in New York in 1963 under the name Shibaden Denki and it soon became a leading supplier of broadcast cameras in the United States, Canada and Latin America.
The company then became Hitachi Denshi in 1973 and it continued to serve the American market with broadcast cameras, professional video, CCTV and test & measurement equipment. In the late 1980s Hitachi Denshi enlarged the existing business by entering the industrial video field with a wide range of market-suitable products. In the year 2000 the company became Hitachi Kokusai Electric when Hitachi Denshi merged with Kokusai Electric.The American subsidiary company was Hitachi Kokusai Electric America, Ltd. 
Then, on 27th December 2024 – after the company’s majority shareholding (80%) was purchased by Nisshinbo group one year earlier – the company name changed to KOKUSAI DENKI Electric Inc. Hitachi Limited continues to hold the other 20% share of the company.
The American subsidiary became KOKUSAI DENKI Electric America, Inc – with its Head Office still located in Southwick, MA.
The name “KOKUSAI DENKI” is actually the same name as was used when the company was first established in Japan in 1949!
