Overview
With over 60 undergraduate and 30 graduate students, the Mining Engineering and Management Department at South Dakota Mines offers bachelor and master of science degrees in mining engineering. The MS program is offered fully online, but can also be completed on-campus. The department has seven faculty with expertise in rock mechanics, mine planning and optimization, mineral economics, ventilation, underground and surface mining operations, geology, permitting and reclamation, reliability and maintenance, automation, and mine management. The job placement for graduates has been >98% for the past several years and we are focused on continued growth of opportunities for our graduates.
