Overview
In food and beverage production, changes in liquid concentration take place in many operations. Monitoring of pre-set product specifications throughout the process is necessary for ensuring a consistent quality. Traditionally, this is done by collecting samples and analyzing them in the laboratory, however this increases both the time it takes to identify deviations and the risk for human error.
In contrast, continuous inline monitoring of liquid concentration brings benefits throughout all interim operations, from product intake to product processing and waste streams control. In addition to reducing the risk of sampling contamination, accurate and repeatable measurements can also provide real-time product quality data.
Brix and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) as process control parameters allow manufacturers to continuously monitor and adjust for food and beverage processing. In addition to reduced risk of product contamination and recalls, instruments that monitor TDS or Brix provide a quick response to variations, optimized resource consumption, and reliable quality control.
Custom-engineered to suit the critical needs of manufacturers, the Vaisala Polaris Sanitary Refractometer is an inline tool for reliable process and quality control in productions where product safety and hygiene are of utmost importance. With the ability to measure Brix, Total Dissolved Solids, Oechsle, Baume, Plato, and more than 500 concentration curves, the refractometer is ideal for ensuring efficient use of raw materials, reducing energy consumption, and confirming correct ingredient dosing and product labeling.
