Overview
One of the primary uses of Vincent presses is waste from food processing facilities. The purpose is to separate the water from the waste. This allows the water (press liquor) to be treated or sent to sewer. The solids (press cake) going to landfill or for animal feed are typically reduced in volume and weight by 50%. The Series KP presses are extremely affordable and successful in this application. The Vincent Fiber Filter is used to “clean up” a dilute flow in these same facilities to reduce BOD impact. Frequently, collected solids are then sent to the screw press.
There are additional usages for the press in the food processing industry which do not involve waste streams. “Cooker Crumb” from fryers is run through our small press for the reclamation of valuable cooking oil. Eggshell is run through the press and the recovered liquid is dehydrated to be used as an animal feed supplement. Food leaves and herbs are macerated then pressed to produce the “essence”, often used as a food additive and/or flavoring. Raw ginger and horseradish are processed for consumption and food flavoring. Current applications for food processing include: Citrus Feedmills, Eggshell, Tomato, Pistachio, Salad Waste, Cooker Crumb, Berry Processing, Potato Waste, Corn Silage, Spent Brewers’ and Distiller Grains, Sugar Beet Trash, Carrot, Potato/Corn Chip, Pomegranate, Baby Food Waste, Coffee, Tea, Pineapple, Xanthan Gum, Celery, Coconut, Soya, Steak Sauce, Olive, Onion…
